Clock goes forward – March

At 1 AM the clocks move forward to 2 AM
The period between 1 AM and 2 AM is skipped

The appropriate time will be charted

Flowsheet

An hour will be omitted on the observation chart.

Prescription

Most medications will automatically move forward by 1 hour after the time change.

e.g. 10 AM & 10 PM medication will become 11 AM & 11 PM

Please administer medications at the times shown in ICCA.

Clinician or pharmacist will change the timing back to regular time on Sunday or Monday.

New admission after the clock change and new prescription for existing patients will appear at the usual times.

Clock goes backward – October

At 2 AM the clocks move back to 1 AM
The period between 1 AM and 2 AM happens twice.

Document

The appropriate time will be charted

Flowsheet

An additional 1:00 AM column will appear on the observation chart.

Please record observations and fluid balance for both 1:00–2:00 AM hours.

Prescription

Most medications will automatically shift back by 1 hour after the time change.

e.g. 10 AM & 10 PM medication will become 9 AM & 9 PM

Please administer medications at the times shown in ICCA.

Clinician or pharmacist will change the timing back to regular time on Sunday or Monday.

New admission after the clock change and new prescription for existing patients will appear at the usual times.
